To:  Parents and or Guardians

Wow, I am starting my 28th year at Edwardsburg Public Schools and it seems only yesterday that I joined the team at the high school.  My years are filled with inspirational stories from students who are learning to overcome personal and academic challenges.  This year I look forward to building new relationships as well as developing previous relationships as your teacher and or case manager.  I focus on allowing students to create individualized goals and assess their progress each day.  My mission is to develop a sense of pride, purpose, and passion as we transition from high school to the world of work and or post-secondary education in the areas of education, daily/home living, community, recreation/leisure, and employment.

I believe that it is essential to build a supportive, home-to-school team to offer a successful transition for students from one grade level to the next. As parents/guardians, you may

-review school handbook and classroom rules/expectations with your student

-review grades on power school at least weekly

-encourage at least thirty minutes of homework, at least four days per week, which can include a review of daily material, finishing incomplete work, general reading, online test practice, book projects, etc.

-set up a convenient communication method for your student's case manager and or classroom teacher using Google Classroom, email, phone, or your preferred method of communication

As students transition through their four years here at the “Burg”, I hope that they will benefit from some of my real-life employment experiences as well as my academic and personal interests. Please stop by my classroom to visit at your convenience. If you would like to schedule a meeting with me to review progress, please call me at 663-1044 extension 7291 or email me at [email protected].

With Eddies’ “pride, passion, and purpose”,

Mrs. Sawyer
