Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year at Edwardsburg Public Schools!
My name is Miss Withey and I am an English and Biology teacher in the district. As a teacher, I strive to create an educational partnership with you and your student that will foster creativity, determination, and a passion for knowledge. In addition to this, my commitment as an educator will be to provide a nurturing and challenging educational environment that will ensure his/her academic success this year.
Throughout the school year, the students will be reading a variety of novels, short stories, and plays with the following underlying themes: mystery, dystopias, teen issues, and adventure. Accompanied with the reading, there will be challenging coursework from writing prompts to projects that will allow for the students to express their creativity and push their depth of knowledge. Aside from the required reading we will do as a class, the students will be required to do independent reading throughout the year. Independent reading will be books of choice the students will read on their own and will be required to complete an assignment for the book. I will send out specific guidelines at a later date. All announcements and assignments will be posted to GOOGLE CLASSROOM.
***PARENTS / GUARDIANS: If you are interested in receiving information for the Google classroom page, please provide me with your email address so I can add you to receive messages from classroom.
Communication will be of great importance in my classroom. Google Classroom will be used to view agendas, course work, and turn in assignments. I have an open door policy, so if there are any issues please do not hesitate to come and talk to me. You can reach me in the classroom before or after school, via email (firstname.lastname@example.org), or telephone at 269-633-1044 ext. 7107. Email will be the fastest way to contact me especially after school hours unless you have already set up a meeting.
Through our strong partnership, I am confident your son and/or daughter will reach his and/or her full potential in the class. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each one of you in advance for both your support and partnership for the upcoming school year.
